Shannon Appeal gets underway

Back

Generous donations have taken our appeal fund to £8661 in its first two weeks. This is a wonderful start but it also underlines how far we've got to go to reach our target for the new lifeboat.

Two people who have also made a start and will shortly be faced with a long way to go are crew member's wife Amy Emerson and crew member Max Phillips.

Amy has signed-up to row 10km at our annual station open day on 27 July, comparable to the distance the lifeboat would once have been rowed during a rescue at the harbour entrance. She's doing it on a rowing machine so you'll be able to come and cheer her on the whole way. You can sponsor Amy in aid of the Shannon lifeboat appeal on forms at the Joint Effort gym in Staithe Street or in the Edinburgh pub.

Max is aiming to cycle 80 miles east to west across Norfolk at the end of June, hopefully watching the sun rise over the sea in Lowestoft and seeing it set over the sea in Hunstanton. You can find out more or support his efforts at www.justgiving.com/eastwest or fill in the sponsor form at The Picnic Hut on Staithe Street.

If you'd like to help or run your own event or personal challenge, we'd love you to join in. See our appeal pages for more information... or you can of course simply donate directly to the appeal fund.
