Having picked a perfect sunny day, crew member Max Phillips successfully completed a solo sponsored bike ride on Monday 30 June, starting at sunrise over the sea at Ness Point in Lowestoft and finishing watching the sun set over the sea at Hunstanton.

"It was a great day out and a wonderful little adventure," said Max, "I actually managed 91.5 miles on an 80 mile trip, with some deliberate detours for traffic and sightseeing and several accidental ones because I didn't take decent maps. I'm a bit tired, stiff and sunburnt but there were no major mishaps and I wouldn't mind doing it again."

Max left Ness Point at 05:15, after the 04:34 sunrise and rolled into Hunstanton at 18:15 with 3 hours to spare for fish and chips and a lie down on the green before sunset. Places visited along the way included Somerleyton, St Olaves, Loddon, central Norwich, the Marriot's Way as far as Themelthorpe, Bintry Mill, Great Ryburgh, Hempton, East Rudham, Bircham, Fring and Ringstead.

The ride has so far raised over £400 for the Wells Shannon Lifeboat Appeal, with some donations still coming in. Watch the video of the ride below...
